Following the Sign 11/8
Sermon Series: Acts – Faith Explosion
Title: Following the Sign
Text: Acts 3:11-28
Theme: Last week we talked about the lame man who was begging at the beautiful gate going into the temple until he encountered Peter and John who offered him something more valuable than silver or gold, they offered him a relationship with Jesus who immediately healed him. Suddenly this man found that the sign which identified him as a cripple had been changed to a different definition .
Today we are going to pick up the narrative from that point and we are going to be asking the question: What happens after the sign and how do we follow the sign. Today we have a different kind of sign.
On screen – “While he clung to Peter and John, all the people ran together to them in the portico called Solomon’s, astounded. And when Peter saw it he addressed the people: “Men of Israel, why do you wonder at this, or why do you stare at us, as though by our own power or piety we have made him walk? The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified his servant Jesus, whom you delivered over and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he had decided to release him.” (Acts 3:11-13, ESV)
“And his name—by faith in his name—has made this man strong whom you see and know, and the faith that is through Jesus has given the man this perfect health in the presence of you all.” (Acts 3:16, ESV)
