Have you heard about the latest controversy that has different Christian Churches at each other*s throats. One of the most famous Churches in the world, the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, has found itself embroiled in a bitter fight between the six different denominations that control this historical church and landmark. The struggle is the result of backed up toilets.
*The Church of the Holy Sepulcher is located on the traditional site of Jesus* crucifixion in Old Jerusalem. It also houses one of the sites claimed to be the tomb, where Jesus laid for three days. Because of its historical significance several different denominations have shared the use of and responsibility for the structure. As Easter approached this year, three of the groups that control one 10-stall restroom could not agree how to divide responsibility for repairing it, leading to a pervasive stench in the building. Furthermore, the path of the outflow sewage pipe (which needed enlarging) passes under property of a fourth denomination, which has resisted helping unless it is granted control of one of the 10 stalls. *Jesus had a different perspective on how kingdom workers were supposed to behave.
“Again, I assure you: If two of you on earth agree about any matter that you pray for, it will be done for you by My Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there among them.*” (Matthew 18:19-20, HCSB)
In the economy of discipleship that Jesus taught, we are told that His presence in our efforts is dependent upon our ability to be united in our intent.
*This summer will provide us several opportunities to be involved in the kingdom building efforts of our church. Above the regular activities of the congregation there is: the Fish fry, Revival, Church Camps, Christ in Youth, and the Ice Cream social. Let*s work hard at being united in the Kingdom building efforts available to us.

Fire Time
The other day I cracked open a fortune cookie and read, “You are capable, competent, creative, careful. Prove it.” Sometimes there’s a difference between who we are and who we allow ourselves to be.
*Take the movie “Hook”, for example. In it we find that Peter Pan has grown up, married, had children, become a successful businessman, and completely forgotten who he use to be. However, through a serious of events not to be revealed in this article (so as not to ruin the plot line), Peter finds himself back in Never Land, face to face with his most infamous enemy, and still without the understanding or belief that he is, in fact, Peter Pan.
But Peter’s repeated objections to being called Pan don’t prevent Hook from recognizing him almost immediately, though he’s merely a shadow of his former self.
*Our enemy knows who we are even when we don’t. I believe Satan knows all the power we have access to and what we would be capable of if we believed the things God tells us about ourselves. Which is why he does everything in his power to prevent us from reaching this realizaiton.
*There’s one line from this movie that sticks out to me every time I watch it. Fairly early on, Wendy is trying to remind Peter of his true identity (as she’s evidently done many times in the past). After dropping several hints she finally looks at him in despair and says, “Peter, don’t you know who you are?!?”
*It probably won’t surprise you to hear that Peter eventually remembers himself and then regains his abilities to fly, fight, and crow. But during their final confrontation, Hook’s first attack is against Peter’s identity: “You know you’re not really Peter Pan, don’t you? This is only a dream. When you wake up you’ll still just be Peter Banning, a fat, selfish man who drinks too much, is obsessed with success, and runs and hides from his wife and children.”
*I could tell you whether Peter buys into Hook’s tactic and lets himself be defeated or understands that who he has become doesn’t match who he really is and ends up victorious. But I want you to watch the movie and see for yourself.
*Also, I want to point out the fact that we have to face that very same dilemma. Everyday we can wake up and believe Satan when he says we are weak, controlled, sinful, and useless, trapped by the things we’ve done or the shadow we’ve let ourselves become Or we can listen to the words of our Father: “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His possession, so that you may proclaim the praises of the One who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light” (1 Peter 1:9)

The choice is ours: sink or fly?

PHCC Ministry team Updates

We have been blessed by outstanding support and attendance at all of our church sponsored activities and what a way to give back by attending and supporting those hosted by others.

GIRLS NIGHT OUT!: Angela Pegelow and Tracy Kruessel will be hosting our next *Girl*s Night Out* on June 2. It will be game night, so get ready to test your skills, or just come to watch the fun! Check out the bulletin for details.

Women of Faith Conference: This year*s conference will be June 15th and 16th in St. Louis. Tickets have been ordered and payment can be made at any time to Joeann Buffington. This is an awesome experience and it*s not to late to decide to attend. We have 3 tickets available, so let Joeann know if you are interested. Talk to someone who has been there and you will find out what blessings occur.

Recipe Book: Ruth Walker is compiling recipes to be published in a PHCC cookbook. A committee is making decisions on layout, etc. with more information available soon.

Willing Workers: Everyone is invited to be a part of this ministry team. We meet the third Sunday of each month. Sometimes it*s a short meeting right after church and sometimes a meal is served. Check your bulletin for information. Some of the activities sponsored by Willing Workers are the annual Fish Fry and Ice Cream Social. Several missions are supported by the donations from these events.

Nursery: Thanks to all the volunteers who make the nursery a pleasant place for our little ones to be!

Small Groups: If you are not involved in a ministry team in the way of a small group consider the following and contact someone if interested. The group meeting at Mark and Carla Hatfield*s is currently on break for the summer. They will resume meeting in September. The bulletin and newsletter will let you know when. Darryl and Teresa Ammon host a group that meets at 6:30p.m. on Sunday nights and they are involved in a chronological study of the bible. Joe and Brenda Hamilton are hosting a group viewing a video based on biblical times and lifestyle. Their meeting time is announced weekly. Anyone is welcome to join an existing group and become blessed by this ministry.

Summer Vacation
Congratulations to all the students who have completed another great year of school. Salisbury will be getting out May 18. Keytesville will be getting out of school May ?. I wish everyone a safe and fun summer.

Graduates
Congratulations Tabitha and Sarah. Tabitha and Sarah are both graduating this year. Tabitha will be going to the Honor Academy in Texas. Sarah will be going to Moberly to Central Christian College of the Bible. We wish both of them good luck and hope that they will be successful in everything they do.

6th Grade Promotion
Congratulations to Hope Naylor, Austin Francis, and Brittney Easton. They have all promoted from 6th grade and will being going to the high school next year for 7th grade.

Good Job Bryce and Garrett
Bryce and Garrett were chosen for student of the week. Bryce Kruessel was selected because he supported another student by standing up for others. Garrett Francis was selected because he consistently does good work and behaves. He can be counted on to be steady and accurate.
